GSFA Residential Energy Retrofit Program

With the GSFA Residential Energy Retrofit Program, eligible homeowners can finance energy efficiency and renewable energy (i.e. solar) measures, up to $50,000, with a 6.5% fixed interest rate 15-year loan*.

  • 100% financing is available
  • No income limits apply
  • No equity requirements

Thinking about replacing that noisy, inefficient or broken air conditioner? Or maybe your walls and attic need better insulation? Maybe you would like to have dual pane windows and a solar water heater installed?

There are a multitude of Eligible Measures to choose from.

GSFA Basic Home Upgrade

The GSFA Basic Home Upgrade path is a great way to address basic energy efficiency problems in the home. This path is designed to improve the average home's energy efficiency by an estimated 10%.

Eligible efficiency measures are:

  • Air sealing
  • Insulation
  • Duct sealing
  • Heating and cooling equipment

GSFA Advanced Home Upgrade

The GSFA Advanced Home Upgrade path takes energy efficiency one step further by customizing the energy efficiency project to your specific home's needs. It is a more comprehensive approach to energy efficiency and can result in greater energy savings than the basic home performance path.

The GSFA Participating Contractor performs a whole-house energy efficiency evaluation using computer modeling and technical equipment, in compliance with the energy audit standards of HERS (Home Energy Rating System). In this way, you get a real life picture of each aspect of your specific home's energy efficiency, to identify ways to save the most energy.

Up to $50,000 in eligible energy efficiency measures can be financed through the GSFA Advanced Home Upgrade path. Renewable energy measures (i.e. solar) can also be including in the project, provided the homeowner includes energy efficiency measures to improve the home's energy efficiency by a minimum of 10%. All projects must include the replacement of one piece of equipment, such as furnace, air conditioner, water heater, etc.

GSFA Participating Contractors

Our Participating Contractors, including Brower Mechanical, are trained in energy efficiency home performance analysis and installation practices.

When you are ready, the Brower team will thoroughly evaluate your home, let you know which measures will make the biggest impact to lower your energy use and help you complete the GSFA loan application for your proposed project.

*Certain properties may not be eligible (such as mobile or manufactured homes). Other guidelines may apply.
